Chinese Animal Predictions for 2026 – Year of the Yang Fire Horse (Bing Wu)
What does 2026 have in store for you?
© Written by Jessica Hanna, 2026
2026 will bring the year of the Yang Fire Horse, which is known for being a year of very quick change and uncertainty. If you have a good understanding of the twelve animals, you may have heard of the curse of the Fire Horse, and while there is some truth to this, I suggest taking it with a pinch of salt, as there are many ways that we can all use the Fire Horse’s influence to our advantage during 2026.
For all of the twelve animals, 2026 will certainly come with particular challenges for all of us, any nobody will be exempt from this. What will determine our year ahead, is our choice to remain active and not become dormant in any areas of our life; to make the most of the fast-paced Fire Horse year, use this influence to your advantage, and work hard on anything in your life that you wish to achieve during 2026, as your own forward momentum can help you ride the wave and enjoy a fantastic year.
In 2025, the Pig was the conflict animal during the year of the Snake and while there will have been many who experienced problems to some degree, I know many Pigs on a personal level who have celebrated multiple milestones and success throughout 2026 as they were prepared early with regards to the Flying Star (Xuan Kong) recommendations and also their animal prediction for the year ahead.
What is the conflict Chinese Zodiac animal for 2026 in the year of the Horse?
Those born in the Year of the Rat may feel the conflicting energies of the Year of the Horse in 2026, as the Rat is the conflict animal this year. Individuals born in 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1995, 2008, and 2020 should take extra care throughout the year, as the Horse’s influence can introduce certain challenges into their lives.
That said, Josephine is a Rat and has already lived through five Rat years without experiencing any major problems that she can recall. I write about the conflict animal because it’s important to be aware, but please remember that there is plenty you can do to minimise potential challenges. As you’ll see below, this is still presented in a positive light, as the Rat has every opportunity to enjoy a truly wonderful year!
When we enter into the Year of the Horse on the 4th of February 2026, it’s essential to have our annual Cures and Enhancers properly in place throughout the home and workplace. Doing so helps ensure that 2026 is as prosperous, harmonious, and enjoyable as possible for all twelve Chinese animals, boosting their luck across every area of life.
To find your animal sign, check the charts below. If you were born before February 4th (Spring Begins), use the year before. If it is after February 4th, then use the same birth year. This is worth double-checking; as you would be amazed at how many people born in January or February get it wrong.
If you are unsure of your Chinese Animal maybe consider using our Feng Shui software which has been updated for period 9 Feng Shui that calculates it automatically along with personal Gua, flying stars, annual, fixed and monthly and so much more.
Some examples:
Born 3rd February 1958 = Rooster
Born 5th February 1958 = Dog
Born 3rd February 1987 = Tiger
Born 5th February 1987 = Rabbit
What year would I have to be born to be a Rat?
The cycle of Chinese animals comes back around every twelve years and for your Chinese animal to be the Rat, you would have to be born on the following years:
4th Feb 2020 – 3rd Feb 2021
4th Feb 2008 – 3rd Feb 2009
4th Feb 1996 – 3rd Feb 1997
4th Feb 1984 – 3rd Feb 1985
4th Feb 1972 – 3rd Feb 1973
4th Feb 1960 – 3rd Feb 1961
4th Feb 1948 – 3rd Feb 1949
4th Feb 1936 – 3rd Feb 1937
4th Feb 1924 – 3rd Feb 1925
4th Feb 1912 – 3rd Feb 1913
Although the Rat is the conflict animal for the Horse year, please do not start panicking if your Chinese animal is the Rat as there is a great deal that can be done to still make 2026 a really successful year.
Is Chinese astrology the same as Western astrology?
Chinese and Western astrology share a few similarities, but they are ultimately two distinct practices and shouldn’t be interpreted in the same way. Chinese astrology focuses on the strategic placement of Feng Shui cures and enhancers within a space—whether that’s your home, office, or personal area like a bedroom. The aim is to strengthen the positive influences and reduce the negative ones. Its purpose is to help you make the most of life by keeping the flow of positive energy smooth and supportive in your surroundings.
The Flying Stars in your home or workplace have the power to generate significant luck and good fortune for the occupants; however, while they can bring positive shifts, they can just as easily introduce challenges. When negative stars are activated, they can affect many areas of life, which is why maintaining a good balance throughout 2026 is so important. For example, having the annual #9 star in a bedroom or office in the southeast is highly auspicious, but placing water colours in this area would weaken the star’s beneficial energy and turn good luck into misfortune.
Chinese astrology is also about understanding how the year ahead may unfold and recognising what you should pay attention to in your life based on your Chinese animal sign.
Having insight into what might unfold in the upcoming year gives us a significant advantage. Armed with this knowledge, we can proactively take measures early on to mitigate and possibly even prevent any potential issues.
What can I do to make the year of the Fire Horse 2026 as successful as possible?
“Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.”
The New Year always takes people by surprise being so close to Christmas and the New Year. The best advice I can give is to prepare early, as the Fire Horse year is certain to be a fast-paced one. Although you can make changes any time throughout 2026, the closer to the 4th of February that your annual Cures and Enhancers, the quicker this will help to enhance and settle the energy when we enter the New Year.
Although the animal predictions will help you make significant changes for 2026, it is vital that the Flying stars in your home are appeased for the year as it can be counterproductive to follow one and not the other.
Other Feng Shui websites have said that all Rats will go through tragedy in 2026; is this accurate?
When reading other Feng Shui websites, I often notice that many focus on worst-case scenarios. While challenges can arise for the Rat this year, simply offering a brief warning without explaining how to avoid these issues isn’t particularly helpful.
We are an online Feng Shui store, and although we do sell cures, I always make a point of providing free guidance and practical alternatives so that people from all backgrounds can benefit from the positive influence Feng Shui can bring.
Some Chinese animals will undoubtedly face more obstacles than others during the Year of the Horse, and many Rats may experience conflict in 2026. However, there is absolutely nothing preventing them from turning it into a highly successful and enjoyable year.
We’ve been writing Chinese animal predictions for over twenty-six years, and while we always present the facts, we also make sure to offer solutions to any difficulties that may occur. Take any advice you read with a pinch of salt—and here’s to a wonderful Yang Fire Horse year ahead.
“It is better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.”

Im born on year of the pig, month of monkey, day of OX and birth-hour of sheep. And my question is am i in clash next year which is a horse year because my born day is Ox
And its not compatible with horse, will it affect my overall predictions and face challenges? will i buy the cures only for my born year which is pig? Or ill buy both?
Hi Abe,
We usually base the predictions on the yearly pillar that you were born. I’m afraid we don’t study BaZi on a deep enough level to advise on the month, day and hour, and it may be worth asking someone who specialised in BaZi to see if they can advise on this.
Sorry that I couldn’t offer more help.
Kind regards,
Daniel
Hi, just a quick question please.
May I place my Feng Shui cure on 1 January, or should I wait until February (chinese new year?) Also, do the cushion colour changes for the specific sides of the house take effect from 1 January, or only from February?
For the kitchen tea towels, I’ve always changed them on a specific day in February, but I just wanted to double-check in case I’ve missed anything.
Thank you so much for your guidance.
Hi Eva,
I would recommend waiting until the 4th of Februaryfor your cures, decorations, pillows etc, as this is the date when the annual Flying stars change over for the year.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Daniel
