What do I do with my old Salt Water Cure at the end of the year?

On the 4th of February every year, it is time to replace all of the cures for the Annual stars and while most Cures can be cleansed and reused, there are a few that should be disposed of as they store too much negative energy and these cures are the Six Chinese I-Ching Coins and the Salt Water Cures.

The Six Chinese Coins can simply be wrapped and newspaper and disposed of in a bin however you should take a lot more care with the Salt Water Cure as this should not be disturbed when you are disposing of it.

The best way to dispose of a Salt Water Cure is to carefully place it in a Tupperware type container and seal it straight away and dispose of as this will keep any energy trapped inside the sealed container. Please do not just throw it straight in a bin as the energy will stagnate around the home.

  1. CLEANSING OLD CURES

I sometimes have a hard time with putting my old cures (2015-2019) in direct sunlight outside. Is it ok to put them by the window with the shades open on a sunny day?

    1. Hi Christina,

That will be fine to place them on the windowsill for the day.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

      1. Thank you. The sunlight may not directly hit the windowsill or door window. is it ok just as long as it is daytime? can I also place them there at night? I ask about the night part because turns out it’s going be cloudy all week starting this Sunday into Chinese New Year 2022. Sorry I’m always asking but I seem to have trouble with cleansing sometimes. Nosy neighbors, rain, too cold, sun doesn’t hit just right, and cloudy days are some examples.

        1. Hi Christi,

This will still be ok if the direct light doesn’t hit them and being exposed to natural light or moonlight will help to cleanse them 🙂

          Kind regards,
          Daniel

    1. Hi Dara,

I would recommend placing a Ru Yuan Yi Chang wish and romance enhancer in the east of your home to enhance relationships for 2021 from the 3rd of February.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Stephen,

Delivery in the UK is usually sent the same or next day and will then take an extra day to get to you so this will usually take between 1-3 working days.

I hope this helps and thank you for your order.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    2. Hi Stephen,

Delivery in the UK is usually sent the same or next day and will then take an extra day to get to you so this will usually take between 2-3 working days.

I hope this helps and thank you for your order.

      Kind regards,

  2. Juan Kuan offering plate (aka wealth vase)
Are you supposed to place the wish list under the Chinese I-ching coin and magnetic Hematite or under the plate?

    1. Hi Christina,

You can place the wish list underneath the dish or on top, underneath the coins etc; whichever you prefer as long as it is right by the cure.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  3. For the USA, is Chinese New Year’s Eve on Thursday Jan 23 or Friday Jan 24? I am trying to get everything sorted and ready for CNY Eve.

    1. Hi Sara,

Chinese New Year falls on Saturday the 25th January in the USA. Chinese New Years eve will fall on the Friday.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  4. I live in the USA according to the World Time Converter is it safe to assume that Chinese New Years Eve is Thurs Jan 23? Also I know the day for placing cures is Tue Feb 4 but is there a misprint because I thought the USA would be the day before that and it seems like every country is on Tue except Honolulu – USA.
Also regarding lucky colors, are the lucky colors for everyone or just for the Rat? I am a fellow Dog.

Salt water cure: Can it be any size glass instead of a pint? Does it really have to be 3 quarters full of salt? I sometime have difficulty trying to get the coins around the glass with 3 quarters full of salt. This year when I was putting one together, some of the coins were touching and now they look like they are about to fall over inside or something. here are pictures, not sure if they showed up.

    1. Hi Christina,

The date to celebrate Chinese New Years is Friday the 24th January 2020.

The date for celebrating is on Tuesday the 4th February 2020.

I did a quick check on a time conversion website which you can see the difference in times here – https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20200204T090200&p1=136&p2=18&p3=197&p4=103

The lucky colours are for general lucky colours for all of the Chinese animals for 2020.

I would aim for a pint glass if you can. I will usually fill the glass with the salt, place the coins and then slowly trickle the water along the glass. you can always use a stick or pencil to move the coins after filling them with water.

      I hope this helps, Christina.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

      1. Could I go ahead and change/replace my cure? It seems ever since I set it and the coins were touching and now this that there has been alot of negativity at one of my jobs and yesterday I just quit

        1. Hi Christna,

Sorry to hear you’ve been having problems; I hope they resolve themselves quickly.

I would replace the cure if you are not happy with it as a piece of mind can play a big part in Feng Shui.

          I hope this helps.

          Kind regards,
          Daniel

          1. Hi Christi,

These are permanent lucky colours for the Dog.

            I hope this helps.

            Kind regards,
            Daniel

  5. Question about the wind chime. Do I have to hang it from the ceiling? I would be unable to as I have 9 foot ceilings. Can I hang it on the wall instead? Do I have to hang it inside? -I have this white wood cupboard like thing that I planned on putting my Salt water Cure and other metal cures in. Can I do that as long as I keep the door open on it? it’s movable, I have it in the Northeast right now.

    1. Hi Christna,

This does not need to be hung from a ceiling and could be hung off of a shelf, bracket or against the wall. The wind chime can be hung inside or outside; whichever you prefer.

The cupboard will be fine to place the salt cure and other metal cures in; if you can keep it open, that will work better.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  6. Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for answering all my questions . I need help for my best friend please. He had a 9 mountain star and 5 water star in the west side of his house. he had been hooked to gambling and is finacially not well. I found out in the software that the combination in this area causes financial problems and risks in stocks or gambling etc. This area is in his masters bedroom (door). I followed the advice on the software to help him out but it seems he needed a much stronger cure. Can you advice us please? Your help will be greatly appreciated. And thank you very much.

    Jeffrey

    1. Hi Jeffrey,

This combination can cause problems with bad luck and money problems and could be related to gambling (can also be stocks & shares type gambling) so take care but can be good for health if supported with buildings outside or ideally a real mountain. Place six Chinese coins in a row tied with red ribbon, a salt water cure along with a Wu Lou to weaken the #5 star. If this is a bedroom try and face your Tien Yi or Yan Nien directions. You should avoid fire colours like red, pink, purple or orange and introduce white, blue silver or copper colours. You can place a six hollow metal rod wind chime but only inside as we do not want the noise to activate this area. Try not to let children play in this area either inside or out as this will cause many problems. Check and/or fit smoke alarms.

I would have your friend face his auspicious direction when sleeping in this area and keep this location calm and quiet.

I’d also introduce some heavy metal under the bed to weaken the 5 star.

      I hope this helps, Jeffrey.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  7. Hi Michael ,

My sister house is facing north and it has a gate and fence for security in front of the house. The fence and gate are made of iron rods with arrow heads pointing upwards . Are these consired as poison arrows? What is the cure if it is so ? And what color is good to paint the gate and fence?
    Thank you very much .

    1. Hi Jeffrey,

The fence will likely slow down the flow of fresh Qi entering the home although I would not worry enough to remove it. I would make sure it is kept clean as much as possible around the fence. I would paint the fence and gate a nice neutral colour.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  8. Michael

What is the best location for fu dogs in 2019, also I have a 5 coin yellow mystic knot, which location would the best placement for this item?

I’m a bit late in placing my cures this year:(

    Thank you!
    Joanne

    1. Hi Joanne,

The best location for Fu Dogs would be to place them either side of your front door looking out.

I’m afraid we do not work with 5 coins in a row so I could not advise on this.

      I hope this helps, Joanne.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  9. Hi Daniel,

Can I still use the ” Ba Gua wealth protection mirror” in my front door this year even though the yearly # 5 star is no longer at the north this year? Or can I use it in the front door of any house facing?
    Thank you very much.

    Jeffrey

    1. Hi Jeffrey,

That will be fine to use the Ba Gua mirror here; you can use a mirror anywhere to treat a poison arrow.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  10. I had cleansed my old cures to put out in 2018 and never did put them out this year. They are stored away in ziplock bags in a box at the moment. If I want to reuse these for 2019 do I need to recleanse or go ahead and put them out for 2019?
Since I live in the USA – Texas and according to the World Times Converter Chinese New Year’s Eve is Sunday Feb 3 and Chinese New Year’s day is Monday Feb 4. The day for placing cures is Sun Feb 3 on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Is this true? Am I wrong?

    1. Hi Christina,

If they were cleansed before they were put away, you would not need to cleanse the cures again.

The time you can place your 2019 Feng Shui cures and enhancers from is on Sunday the 3rd of February at 21:14.

      I hope this helps, Christina.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  11. I’m confused. I keep reading on here that I need to replace my Gold Pi Yao or also reuse it. Please tell me the real answer. Also, can I go ahead and start cleansing my old cures now or wait 3 days before setting them out? Thank you.

    1. Hi Christina,

I would not replace the Pi Yao until it is looking worn out. I would recommend cleansing your cures a few days before the 4th February.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  12. Hello
I’m new to Feng Shui. I’ve recently bought a property and really looking forward to filling it up with items. The property doesn’t have any central heating and am trying to figure out where in all the rooms to place radiators. And where to position the internet connection. Everywhere I look there doesn’t seem to be a best place for this. Is there?

    1. Hi Joanna,

Congratulations on your new property! Unfortunately, it takes a great deal of time to calculate the best positions for different features of a home and no two homes will be the same. Sorry I couldn’t help.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  13. Hello i hope you see my message 🙂 have Sent few correspondence already.
Would you recommend when is the best time to travel in august and or september 2018 please
    My DOB is 18/11/1974
    My husband is 12/11/1978
    Cheers Thank you

    1. Hi Eva,

The best dates for travel for you both in August and September are:
      11th and 23rd August
      4th, 17th, 29th September

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  14. Last year I got the Huo Zai Dragon and Ru Yi. The base is separated from the Dragon. I assumed it was supposed to come that way but now when I look at it, it seems like it was supposed to be attached to the base. Is it ok to just super glue it?

    1. Hi Christina,

If the Dragon itself is not damaged such as a snapped off foot, this will be fine to glue back and reuse it.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  15. Hello Michael/Daniel,
I have purchased a Ba gua wealth protection mirror to be placed at the main door this 20018 . My house is facing 343 North and the main door is located in the north area of the house. The main door though located in the north is facing east , which is facing my neighbors concrete wall. Is ok still to place the bagua at the main door when there are no poison arrows?
    Thank you.

    Jeffrey

    1. Hi Jeffrey,

I’d recommend placing the Ba Gua mirror above the front door if there is a good distance between your door and the neighbours wall (at least 6 feet apart).

If the wall is quite close to your front door, you could place it on your outside wall facing on to the main road.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  16. Can you shed some light on this question?
My office is a Donga on our property in Baldivis, Perth Western Australia.
Q I have a real frog who sit’s on my window- the frog is about 3″ long tan, black and bit of green- the window is in the east or south east. He goes at night and is there in the morning.
    Does this mean anything?!!!

    Kind Regards
    Kaye
    cfo90968@hotmail.com

    1. Hi Kaye,

In China, frogs are a symbol of wealth, career luck, and good fortune so hopefully, you will have some new money coming in soon!

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  17. Hi. I am new to Feng shui. Bought the annual cures and enhancers plus software last year and the annual cures plus several items this year as well. Your website is great and we just love the items! Still unsure and confused though about the cures and enhancements, Also, has difficulty understanding the software and how to use it. Definitely, it’s me and not the software.
Anyway, I have questions which I really hope you can help me with:
Do I need to change the bagua, pi yao, money frog, wu lou every year? I know I have to discard the salt water cure and the 6 I-ching coins.
Does it matter if I placed a concave or a convex bagua? Do I need to place a concave bagua if the annual flying star at my front door is good and a convex bagua if the annual flying star is bad?
Is there a difference if I place a red money toad vs. a gold colored money frog outside my door?
Where do I put my cures if I have a 2 story house? Just on the first floor or second floor?
Must the wind chime be outside the house? Can it be placed inside the house?
Do we need to ring the wind chime or bells (part of the annual cures) everyday especially when it’s in the bad direction where we should “not make noise” ?
If the bedroom is in a bad direction base on the Annual Flying stars, is it alright to sleep/use the bedroom once cures are placed?
I truly apologize for all the questions. Desperate for answers.

    Sincerely,
    Paul

    1. HI Paul,

I’m glad to hear you like the website and thank you for the kind words.

Ideally, you should replace the Ba Gua mirror as they store a lot of negative energy.

The Pi Yao, Money toad and Wu Lou can be cleansed and reused unless they become damaged; here is an article with advice on how to cleanse your cures https://www.fengshuiweb.co.uk/advice/lunarcalendar2011.htm

The safest bet with a Ba Gua mirror is to place a Ba Gua wealth protection mirror; the convex and concave mirrors are used for more extreme cases such as having a cemetery or factory across from your home.

I would place the red toad by your front door as the red toad is used for specific locations.

When placing your cures in your home, you should place them in the more important room over the two levels; if you have a storage cupboard in the north upstairs and a living room downstairs, you would place the cures in the living room.

The wind chime can be placed inside although please be sure to chime it when you go past it if you are placing it inside. If you place the wind chime outside, the wind will naturally make it chime. The noise from a wind chime is not loud enough to activate the bad areas.

It can be very hard to avoid a whole room and as long as you follow the advice and place the cures, you should not experience any problems.

I hope this is helpful to you Paul and wish you a happy and successful year of the Dog.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  18. Hello, I have just received my cures for the first time. 🙂 Thank you! I do have a question. I am not exactly sure when the earliest time I will be able to place my cures? I will actually be out of town from February 3rd to February 26th, 2018. I was wondering if it would be bad to place the cures early (like on February 2nd)? I just don’t want to buy it and not be able to place it until later. What do you think? I live in the USA at Central Time.

    1. Hi Khaly,

Sorry, I have just come across this; I’m not sure if anyone else has got back to you but I did not want to leave it unanswered.

You can place your cures when you get back on the 26th; I would not worry about not having them in place before this as you will not be in the home.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  19. Cleansing Cures

I just found out I could still use last year’s cures. I have them stored away. After placing cures outside at night during the full moon I may not always be able to rinse my cures in the morning as I don’t have time because I have to be at work. If I place them in direct sunlight for 4 hours, do I wait the next morning to rinse them? Do I sprinkle the salt on them when under the full moon or when in sunlight? Also when it comes to the cures I am supposed to bury, I live in an apartment complex so there really is nowhere to bury them as I have nosy neighbors or I could get into trouble for digging up the ground. Do you have any other options for burying?

    1. Hi Christina,

Here is an article I wrote showing how to cleanse your cures and enhancers. If you are not able to clean them up in the morning, I would recommend leaving them out for the day and cleaning them off when you get back in.

If you are not able to bury the cures, I would dispose of them carefully in a bin away from home.

      I hope this helps, Christina.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  20. I bought the Xin Xiang Shi Cheng wish and romance enhancer for 2017. How do I place it? Right now I have my dreams and wishes written on paper in the box inside with the lid closed with the enhancer on top of the box. Was I supposed to hang the enhancer and which side faces the front?

    1. Hi Christina,

This comes down to personal preference as some people prefer to keep the cure in the box on display and some prefer to hang it; if you do hang the Xin Xiang Shi Cheng cure, you should hang it with the coin side against the wall.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  21. Hi Michael,

Good day! I hope you are doing well.

I bought the Xiang Xin Yuan wish and romance enhancer last November 2016 and I would like to know if I can place multiple pictures of my goals and dreams inside it or should I just place one at a time? How long should I leave it there as well?

Thank you for your advice in advance!

    Best Regards,
    Garri

    1. Hi Garri,

You can place more than one picture of your goals in there although it is much more effective to focus on one at a time. You usually leave the cure in place until your goal has been achieved and would then place a picture of your next goal or wish.

      Kid regards,
      Daniel
