2023 Feng Shui Flying star chart

The beginning of Chinese New Year 2023 (according to the lunar calendar) begins on the New Moon which in 2023, will be on the 22nd January 2023; this will take place after the Winter Solstice and the event is celebrated by millions of people in every single country and area of the world that you can think of. Chinese New Year is a time of new beginnings and signifies a fresh start for everyone. Chinese New Year is very much a family event where the social side of things is concerned and is a time of reunion and thanksgiving. Below you will find everything you will need to know about Chinese New Year 2023, year of the Yin Water Rabbit…

Those born in the year of the Rooster could be affected by the conflicting influences of the year of the Yin Water Rabbit. Although the Rooster is the conflict animal of the Rabbit year, those born in the year of the Rabbit should be aware of potential difficulties they may encounter during the year and take extra care in whatever they do without taking unnecessary risks in all aspects of their life. Regardless, if you follow the advice here you can avoid many problems and enjoy a great 2023 in our opinion so do not panic.

It should be noted that there are five different types of each Chinese Animal (fire, water, wood, earth, metal) which depends on the year you were born and each different animal will have different predictions for the year ahead; you can find out more about this in our 2023 Feng Shui guide which should be released in November 2022 so please be sure to check back on this page.

For example:
Metal Rabbit: 1951
Water Rabbit: 1963
Wood Rabbit: 1919, 1975
Fire Rabbit: 1927, 1987
Earth Rabbit: 1939, 1999

The degree of this influence varies from one person to another. One of the major considerations is the heavenly stem of the year in which one was born so if you were born in 1932 or 1992 which would be a Water Monkey, the year will not be bad at all.

Holidays and observances in China in 2023

In China, there are seven legal holidays in any year, namely New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping), Labour Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day.

Amongst these official holidays are four traditional Chinese holidays, which is always subject to the lunar calendar. The double third festival is on April 22nd 2023 although this is only celebrated by Zhuang Nationality in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Although the solar (Hsia) calendar commences the New Year at the beginning of Spring, which usually falls between the 3rd and 4th of February, the lunar (Yueh) calendar marks the New Year on the second new moon after the winter solstice.  Celebrations and festivities for the Chinese New Year are held on this date. In 2023, the Lunar Chinese New Year, also known as the ‘Spring Festival,’ falls on the 22nd of January 2023.

  1. Im really affected with this star #3,hope its not too late to put a cure on this sector.I bought a Trinity apples, and place it by the window, hoping and praying to solve and cure the problem im facing right now.
    thank you so much
    lyn

    1. Hi Marilyn,

It’s never too late to place cures for the year and get good results.

I would burn a candle here when you can to help weaken the annual #3.

      I hope this helps 🙂

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  2. Do you have any dates for placing the cures ?
In my country they told us to place the cures before 21 st of January
Please can I have some dates ?
    Thank you 🙏

  3. Hi, my bedroom is located in the North West and my bed is in the west facing east I cannot rotate it, do you have a remedy?

    1. Hi Gina,

I’d recommend placing metal cures and colours in here. The quickest way to do this is to use white bedsheets. I’d place a Tai Sui plaque in the east of your home to appease Tai Sui this year, as this will help control Tai Sui.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  4. Thank you so much Daniel! In this case, shall I return back my cures to their old places and just move them around by Feb 3? I already placed the wind chime on our NW as im afraid with the flying star #5 coming in 2024 in our front door. Or do I keep them for now in a storage?

    Regards,
    Rose

    1. Hi Rose,

I would either place them back where they were or keep them in storage until the 4th. You could place a few cure and keep the rest in storage if this is easier.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  5. Hello! Thank you for your advices! Is it ok to place now the 2023 cures? Ive placed some cures for 2023 like wind chimes and others. Just want to be prepared for New Year 2023 . Also, since South is the money area for 2023, is it on to place the Citrine crystal and money pot in my walk- in closet with door inside my bathroom area? Or is it ok on top of the cabinet in the kitchen area where the stove is at?

    Really appreciate your kind advice!

    Thank you,
    Rose

    1. Hi Rose,

I wouldn’t recommend placing your cures until the 4th of February unless you will be away before then. Introducing so many cures at once can cause a big shift in energy and could do more bad than good if you are in the home.

That will be fine to place cures in your walk-in closet for the year 🙂

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  6. Hi Daniel,

Our bedroom is in the N.W. sector & our bed is located in the west facing east . The house is not a proper shape but built in an angled way. Our entrance in NE. Do we need to move out of the room for this year? Or can we stay pls do suggest .

    Thank you

    1. Hi Aprajita,

This will be fine to stay in the northwest as long as you introduce metal cures here and keep noise levels down; normal tv noise will be fine but please avoid exercising here. Ideally, you should move the bed so that you are not facing the west or east this year; if this can’t be done, you can place a Tai Sui plaque in the east of your home.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  7. Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for the Flying Star forecast for 2023. I feel more confident each year when you publish them here and use this as my guide to better prepare for the year.

I have been very anxious about 2 areas at our house.

The NW sector is our kitchen area. It is also our main door for the year as the other door that we can use falls at the east, not also a good area for the year. What can we do about this area Daniel since this is not good but we cannot relocate the stoves and oven to another place, and we are using this as our main door?

The other sector I am worrying about is the NE area, because we often grill in the outdoor balcony located here and we often eat in this area.

Our biggest bedroom is located in the SE area (second floor) and our treadmill too (ground floor). Can we still use the TV here as our family watch shows here a lot as well as the treadmill?

Finally, our main gate is in the East. What can we do to help make this area better (outdoor) and are there cures for this area? We have an outdoor kitchen located in the East too.

Your help would greatly put my mind at ease and my anxiety at bay Daniel. The unfavorable areas are located this year on busy areas of the house.

    1. Hi Urban,

For the Northwest, I would place metal colours and cures in the kitchen and also try to avoid slamming the door. If you can place white towels or decorations near the stove, this will help balance the energy here.

For the northeast, I would place a large black floor grill mat as the water colour will help introduce water to weaken the annual #7.

I’d try to introduce fire cures and colours to the southeast this year. The TV will be fine here as long as you can talk comfortably over the TV speakers.

I would recommend placing a Pi Shi Tai Sui plaque in the east as this will help this sector. Metal cures will also help here. If the gate is old, try to service this with oil or new hinges.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Darlene,

I would recommend placing a Huaxianweiyi rice cure in the northeast for the annual 7 this year.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  8. Hi Daniel and team,

Thank you so much for all the advice over the years! My house faces approx 81degree East. And we have a balcony on second floor on the SE side though facing the same 81 E. The house is on the top of the road with the back sliding into mews houses. Garage is in the back and so is back door.
I am a goat (79) and wonder if you can tell me how to protect and fengshui our house for 2023 please. I also have a round fish tank with 9 goldfish – where is best to place this please for 2023?
Thank you so much for your help Daniel and team!!
    Regards, Amanda

    1. Hi Amanda,

I am finalising the 2023 Flying star advice with advice for the whole home and should have this on the website this week.

I would recommend taking a look at the 2023 cures page, as we have many different cures which will protect different aspects of your life; here is the link for this https://www.fengshuiweb.co.uk/shop/annual-feng-shui-cures-and-enhancers/

For 2023, the best location for a fish tank would be in the south, where the annual #8 star is located.

      I hope this helps 🙂

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Diana,

I will be writing the article for this next week and should have it up on the website along with the monthly updates for December 🙂

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  9. Hello there!

Oir front door is in the NW in 2023 its #5 star. What would be the best cure for this? You can see also the stove from our front door and we put a cabinet to block it. Do you have a cure for that too?
Also, can we use the 2022 cures for 2023 and re arrange them in our home?
Sorry for the questions but appreciate it so much!!
    Sincerely,
    Rose

    1. Hi Rose,

I would recommend placing a 6 rod metal wind chime by your front door, either inside or outside for 2023 as this will help weaken the #5 star. A huge help would be to avoid slamming the door as much as possible for the year, as repeated loud noises can activate the #5 star.

Most of the 2022 cures kit can be reused in 2023 apart from the master cure, Sheng Chi cure, Tai Sui plaque, six coins, and salt cure as these are specific to the relevant year.

If the stove is in the northwest, I would try to place metal colours and cures to help balance the energy here.

We will be releasing the 2023 cures kits early next week 🙂

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  10. Hi,

I have been following your website for years and can’t thank you enough for all your wonderful advice and products!

Due to the current climate, my children must share a room. What are the feng shui ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’?
    – I’ve heard bunk beds are a no no, are raised beds with desks or drawers bad?
    – Are they able to share furniture? Such as drawers or wardrobes? I read that they must have their own desks.
-Are there any other cures to prevent arguments?

    Your help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Anon

    1. Hi Anon,

Bunk beds are not ideal, although they can still be used as long as you follow a few rules. I’d try to go for a solid base under the mattress if you can, as this avoids the cutting energy of the slats. It’s also best to go with something with a chunky look to it, as this will create a solid feel.

Single desks are best, although this will be fine to share a desk if space is tight in the room. If you have the space, an ideal situation would be to use two bunkbeds with a built-in desk underneath for each child.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  11. Hi Daniel,

For 2023, #5 will be at NW (my kitchen and front door) and #2 at East (my son’s bedroom). 2023 will be major exam year for my son 😵‍💫 What cures would be good at NW and East to enhance academic luck and block any negativities for the year ?

    Thank you 🙏🙏

    1. Hi Jess,

For the #2 in 2023, I would place a salt cure, 6 coins, and Tai Sui plaque.
For the #5 in 2023, I would place a salt cure, 6 coins, and 6 rod windchime.

Both areas will benefit from metal colours and element as this will help weaken these stars 🙂

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

      1. Thank you Daniel !

But currently there’s a blue door curtain at NW #5, is it ok to let it remain ?

        As always, thank you 🙏

  12. Good evening, with the movement of magnetic North Ive noticed the reading of my house directions gave changed slightly and in fact made a fine jump from west facing to South West. Have you experienced thus yourself and should i use the new reading?
    Regards
    Glen

    1. Hi Glen,

As long as you have a good quality compass for the reading, I would go off of the new direction although please be sure to double check the readings and maybe have a friend take a separate reading with the same compass as this will help make sure you are accurate in taking the reading.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Emily,

We are getting close to finishing the 203 cures and advice pages and should hopefully have these released by the end of October 🙂

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  13. Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for your quick response and advice.

Can I place windchime in East 3 between the house and the construction work while the digging is in progress?

    Kind regards
    Lee Lim

    1. Hi Lee Lim,

The wind chime is best used for the #5 star although you can place this in the east during 2023 while the work is being carried out.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  14. Dear Daniel,
We live in Australia. My son is planning to install a swimming pool 8 m x 3.5 m in his back yard – ( East 3 and SE 1 ) in April 2023. The installation date cannot be brought forward to this year due to supplier issues and backlog. We are aware that in 2023 East has #2 sickness star & Grand duke in East 1 and SE has the dispute and legal issues #3, so it is not a good year for ground digging. I am very worried. Is there any cure to reduce the negative impact of the ground disturbance. Your advice will be very much appreciated!
    Kind regards
    Lee Lim

    1. Hi Lee Lim,

If this cannot be avoided, I would recommend placing the relevant Tai Sui plaque for the year as this will help to appease Tai Sui. For the east, I would place metal cures such as a salt cure and six coins in the home and for the southeast, I would place fire cures such as a pair of Bi You Pi Yao’s.

We are currently working on the 2023 updates and will have the cures and articles for this released around late October.

We have the monthly #5 in the southeast in April and will need to introduce metal cures to balance this area. We have the monthly #4 in the east in April, which will help to lessen the energy of the annual #2 here.
      I hope this helps 🙂

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  15. If you replace the old cures and enhancers with new ones, what do you do with the old ones, once they are not in use anymore?

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Cecile,

Certain cures such as the Master cure and Sheng Chi cure can be reused in a cycle of 60-years and if you wish to keep these to pass down to family or friends, you can wrap them in tissue and place them in a box in a cupboard or loft.

For cures that need to be disposed of, you can wrap them in tissue and carefully place them in a bin outside of the home.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Roshanak,

We are working on the articles at the moment and should have everything up on the website from the end of October to the beginning of November.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel
