Feng Shui and purses
Purses and wallets play a very important role when it comes to Feng Shui, especially where finances are concerned. With Feng Shui, you can have both auspicious and inauspicious measurements which also should be considered when purchasing a new wallet or purse as this is where the majority of your cash, receipts, change, credit and debit cards are kept the majority of the time so it is imperative that you do not have the vessel of your finances creating problems due to inauspicious measurements.
In this article, I have noted other things to consider when purchasing a new wallet or purse which I will tell you about below. When purchasing a wallet or purse, I would really recommend that you purchase one that is in line with an auspicious measurement, as we as Feng Shui users do all we can to make sure our home benefits from good Qi so why wouldn’t we do the same for something that houses our wealth?
When looking for a purse or wallet, there are only a few things to consider so hopefully we won’t be complicating things too much…
- Cost
- Size
- Colour
Cost – Now this one is not related to Feng Shui as such but is more of a saying that my dad has always said to me; ever since the days when I had pocket money to go get sweets and comics, my dad has always said that you should only spend as much as you can afford and not a penny more on the following things:
Your bed: You spend your life in two things… your bed or your shoes; if you’re not in your shoes, you’re in your bed so make sure you spend as much as you can afford on this.
Your shoes and clothes: If you’re not in your bed, you’re going to be in your shoes so make sure you get something you’re going to be comfortable in.
Your wallet: you’re going to need this when you buy your bed and your shoes and clothes.
Now, I don’t think my dad said it exactly like that but I’m sure it was pretty similar!
For the last two years, I have ditched my wallet and gone for a more alternative style and used a money clip; I have never really been to fond of wallets as they always tend to bulk my pockets out so I decided that a money clip to hold my notes and cards was the best option for me.
When I first started looking for a money clip, I didn’t consider that auspicious measurements would apply to this and jumped straight in to a purchase on eBay spending around £4.99 and a few days later, my new money clip arrived. I only ended up keeping this money clip for around two weeks as it actually ended up snapping due to the cheap material it was made of but the size of the money clip actually indicated financial loss, bad luck and legal issues; either way, I had the whole “I told you so” from my dad for the next few weeks.
Next time round, I decided to do things the right way and used the Academy of Feng Shui software using the Chinese Ruler section of the software to decide what size was right for my new money clip and after than I took a trip to a local jewellers in town and had a look around although everything they had there, although nice, was not the right size so I took a look online and finally found a well priced, perfect sized clip and have been using it ever since. It may not have helped billions of pounds come in to my bank account although I do honestly believe that it has helped avoid problems in life.
Now its time to look at the most important factor when choosing a wallet or purse which is the different sizes of wallets and purses; which ones are good and which ones are bad. Auspicious and inauspicious measurements for picture frames – you can use these measurements to measure both width and height
0cm – 4.5cm – Chai. This indicates money luck
4.5cm – 10.8cm – Pi. This indicates financial loss, bad luck and legal issues
10.8cm – 16cm – Li. This indicates bad luck, financial loss and theft
16cm – 21.5cm – Yi. This indicates success in children and good fertility
21.5cm – 27cm – Kwan. This indicates luck, prosperity and family honour
27cm – 32.4cm – Chieh. This indicates ill health and loss of wealth
32.4cm – 37.8cm – Hai. This indicates disasters, sickness and arguements
37.8cm – 43.2cm – Pun. This indicates good financial luck, general luck and luck in exams
43.2cm – 48.6cm – Chai. This indicates money luck and good fortune
48.6cm – 54cm – Pi. This indicates financial loss, bad luck and legal issues

Last of all, we take colours of a wallet or purse into consideration; when choosing a new purse, you can use particular colours to enhance wealth and finances so be sure to take one of the below colours into consideration!

For colours, your best choices are red, peach, burgundy, maroon, orange, pink, yellow, brown, beige. If you can, it is best to avoid shades of green, white, silver, gold, copper, bronze etc.
