Characteristics of the Earth Dragon: 1928, 1988
Are you prepared for 2026 – The year of the Yang Fire Horse?
 | | | |
The Earth Dragon appears quieter than other types of Dragons. They have a large variety of hobbies and are always aware of what is going on around them. They are extremely good leaders and will not have any trouble getting people on their side when they come up with a new idea. They are very good organizers although they can sometimes be a bit fussy. They will always have a large circle of friends.
The Dragon is a proud and lively person with a never ending supply of self confidence. They are somewhat of a perfectionist and will always try to maintain high standards that they set for themselves.
Relationships
The Dragon is usually extremely outgoing and is great at attracting publicity and attention. They enjoy being the centre of attention and will cope well with problems should they be faced with them. The Dragon can be portrayed as a bit of a showman that rarely lacks an audience. Their views are very highly valued as they will usually have something interesting to say. The Dragon will be extremely quick to criticize anybody that tries to make a fool out of them. They can sometimes be seen as blunt and straight to the point and are certainly not diplomatic or sensitive. They can be quite gullible and will often believe what people tell them. The Dragon does not take insult lightly, if they feel they have been insulted or hurt then it will take a long time for them to learn to trust you again as they do not forget things easily. They love to feel self sufficient and there are many Dragons who cherish their independence to such a level that they prefer to remain single throughout their lives. The Dragon will be adored by many people in their lifetime as many will be attracted to their flamboyant personality and outstanding looks. If they do marry then they will usually marry young and will find themselves very compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys and Roosters.
Career
They are very energetic and are often prepared to work long and unsociable hours in order to achieve what they desire. They can sometimes be quite impulsive and do not always consider the consequences that may follow. They have a tendency to live for the moment which again can have consequences that they do not think of. They hate to be kept waiting and become very impatient over the smallest of delays. The Dragon holds much faith in their abilities, this can sometimes make them a bit over confident which can sometimes lead them to make bad judgements, this can be a big problem at times but the Dragon has the ability to bounce back and pick up the pieces again.
The Dragon will often go very far in their career, this is due to the fact that they have a very self-assured personality and have a tremendous desire to be successful. They have substantial management qualities and will do very well in a position where they can put their own ideas into play. They are usually very successful in politics, a manager’s position within their job, show business and anything that brings them into contact with the media.
Finance
The Dragon will always rely on their own judgement and can be quite mocking of other people’s advice. They are very smart in financial situations and will be able to gather considerable wealth. They are highly intellectual and are always very quick to take advantage of any chance. They are determined and strong-minded to do well in anything they attempt, which usually comes naturally to them

Born 2/8/1988 I’m a earth dragon 🐉
I find this all very fascinating and relevant to my personality and life in general. I have done lots of research on the earth dragon and I’m amazed how close the personality traits are to me and my life.
Can you tell me anything you find important about the earth dragon that I should be aware of that I may not already know???
Hi Haydn,
Being a fellow Earth Dragon, I can tell you that we are very hard-working and meticulous when it comes to organising 🙂
Your best directions (based on your Gua number assigned to your date of birth) to face when sleeping, working etc are the south, north, southeast and east.
Your auspicious colours are blues, black and green. your inauspicious colours are white, grey, gold, silver, reds, pink and lilac.
I hope this helps 🙂
Kind regards,
Daniel
As a U.S born Earth Dragon (May 14th 1988) An inherent drive within me draws me towards Chinese zodiac. I’m curious what symbolism, numbers and colors correspond with my birthday?
Hi Andrew,
You are the same year and animal as me 🙂
Your auspicious colours are shades of blue, black and green.
Your auspicious elements are water and wood.
Your auspicious numbers are 5, 15, 20, 27, 42 and 47.
I hope this helps, Andrew.
Kind regards,
Daniel
Hi! I was born August 6, 1988, an earth dragon and Leo. I want to know how can I utilize fully my zodiac potential.
Hi John,
Chinese animals and Astrology are two different practices and are not usually connected to eachother. The zodiac is based on the year you are born, and Astrology is based on the month you were born.
Sorry that I couldn’t offer more help on this.
Kind regards,
Daniel

I’m an Aquarius earth dragon born at the end of January 1989. This year for the wood dragon, I have no birthdays, but had one in 2000 (in January 2001) for the metal dragon, had two in 2012 for the water dragon, and will again have two for the fire dragon year in 2036. The last fire dragon year was America’s bicentennial year, 1776, which started on my birthday. I find it all very interesting.

Hi Dokcleng,
Yes, your Chinese animal is the Earth Dragon – same year as me 🙂
Your named confused me so much as coming up as a famous Dragon since you have the same name as Barclays’ (the British bank since 1690 that I’m on disability leave from in NYC) Global Head of Sustainable Finance for the Corporate and Investment Bank, who I fall under in the organization’s hierarchy haha. Thanks for making my day, fellow Earth Dragon from 1989! (Capricorn or Aquarius?!)

August is Leo unless it’s after the 20th. Just to help clarify.
Hi,
You’re right, July 23 – August 22 would be a Leo and August 23 – September 22 would be a Virgo.
The person above was born on the 30th of August which would make them a Virgo.
Thanks for pointing this out as the date would change the sign and could confuse people reading 🙂
Kind regards,
Daniel
