Chinese New Year tends to be a very manic time leading up to the celebrations and festivities which is why I have put together this comprehensive Chinese New Year Checklist for 2020, the year of the Yang Metal Rat (Geng Zi) to hopefully make things a bit calmer in the run-up to Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year brings so many jobs and tasks that need doing around the home and office that need doing and every year I go through the home and office that I tend to forget things that need doing which is why I created a checklist to tick off as I go through all of the tedious tasks and I decided to share it on the website for others to add or change how they like, and the feedback has been amazing, and I am so thankful for all of your kind words.

The list below is the same list that I go through every year during Chinese New Year and this year, I have tailored the checklist to be relevant to the year of the Rat and have included where to place the 2020 Annual Cures and Enhancers and colour suggestions for each different compass sector of your home or office for the year which will hopefully make it a bit easier when going through everything before the start of the year of the Rat. This also makes a great reference sheet to keep handy during 2020 when introducing new furniture or decorations.

  1. Hello, what if I want to change my job during these days? Is it good for me? Or it will makes me unstable during 2020?
and I want to know that should I go through this list untill February 4th 2020 or only on 25th January?

Thank you so much for your hard work

    1. Hi Aya,

If you changed your job on the 25th, this could mean you will be starting new things throughout the year.

You would only need to follow this list on the build-up to the 25th and then again on the 4th by cleaning the home and placing your cures.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  2. I recently lost my job. What should I do to bring luck and prosperity to me and my home? I am a Water Tiger. Happy Chinese New Year tomorrow!

    1. Hi Maria,

Happy Chinese New Year to you, too!

Sorry to hear that you lost your job. I would recommend reading through the 2020 Flying star analysis and implement as many of the recommendations as possible. The main areas to focus on are the southeast, west, and northwest.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Jay,

Gambling with family in Mahjong is considered fine although commercial gambling should be avoided.

      Kind regards,

  3. Hi Daniel
On the Chinese New Year checklist page, you mention “Fun facts and Aspirations for Chinese New Year”. Do those apply to the Lunar New Year or the Solar New Year?

Thank you for the advice that you share on the site – truly appreciated.

    Brenda

    1. Hi Brenda,

This advice is for the Lunar Chinese New Year that you would celebrate.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

  4. Hello, this website is amazing. I have a question though… What do you do if your secret ally is the enemy of the year/ally animal of the year is your personal enemy? Horse is my secret ally but I am unsure how to proceed with the Rat year because of it… (in terms of using/working with horse/ox elements or items created in horse/ox years, etc)

    1. Hi Jolie,

Horse cures could be less effective in the year of the Rat although I would not say that it is something to be worried about.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel

    1. Hi Susan,

      It’s our pleasure 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to write this; it always makes my day getting messages like this.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel
