Updated with quite a few new Q&A’s in March 2009

“Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars”

This time of year is extremely busy with the Chinese New Year and this year is no exception and every year we say “this is our busiest year ever”, well guess what? This is our busiest year ever.

We receive hundreds of emails each day and we reply to as many as humanly possible, however, sometimes we receive emails that read like war and peace and to be honest they can take hours to reply to and we do not have the resource for this so I have copied a selection of Q&A below that I know you will find of interest and hopefully relevant to you. Some further information may be uploaded to Michael’s Feng Shui Blog, just click on the link below to check for updates:

A few moans and groans…

I know good manners is also being able to put up with other peoples bad manners, call me old fashioned but I still love to hear a please and thank you, it hurts when we receive emails almost demanding an answer with absolutely no basic common courtesy applied, we spend hours each day replying to emails and it is always unconditional, happily the majority of the emails we receive are really lovely and the reason why we carry on offering our services. The Internet and mobile phones have made the world more impersonal and whilst I embrace and love new technology it does have a downside so all I ask is:

  1. Please use your name when writing, we include our name in replies and it would be nice to know yours too.
  2. Please do not demand a reply or be rude.
  3. Please remember that your ISP can delete some emails we send you as it wrongly can identify us as spam so please add our domain www.fengshuiweb.co.uk and www.feng-shui.eu.com to your safe list.
  4. Please do not write back thanking us a MONTH after we replied to you and then ask us 50 more questions, this really is an insult to our generosity.
  5. Please believe me when I say that whatever you put out in the universe will come back to you good or bad. Being nice to someone whether in person or email etc will bring nice things back to you by some means.

We receive an unbelievable amount of emails on a daily basis from this site alone. Ideally, we would love to be able to reply to each and every email we receive – and we do value each one of them, but sadly it’s not humanly possible for us to do that. The fact is that we get more email than we alone can handle. So if we don’t reply to your message, please don’t take it personally. It’s not that we don’t value or appreciate your questions and/or comments, we honestly do, but replying to every single email we get is beyond our ability although customers, students and Michael’s clients will always take priority and receive an answer within the shortest time possible.

Phew, now that’s what I call a good old moan. It probably is not really good business sense for us to moan like this but I am afraid we have to enjoy what we do and I am sure you would not like to deal with us if we were more business like. Actually all my moans are generated from a tiny percentage of people and I would like to warmly thank you all for the thousands of lovely emails we receive each year with such kind and warm words.

“Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot”

Q) Dear Michael and friends- Thank you so much for the software! It is user friendly and apparently very accurate. This past month indicated a risk for fire. I placed the cures from the 2009 kit and also some intuitive ones like blue carpets in those areas. One evening, our power went out in only half of the bedroom. The next day we had our circuits and wires checked. Michael, one of the circuit boxes had gotten so hot that the wires had melted together. I think that the combination of your advice, the cures kit, and a little devine intervention spared us a tragedy. Although my other areas like wealth etc. seem to still need improvement, things have stabalized financially and my house has a sense of peace. Thank you for all of your efforts and hard work. Karen ( USA)

A) Hi Karen, thank for your kind words and so glad to hear you avoided a disaster. The #2 & #5 star causes accidents and disasters involving fires and placing the cures and enhancers in the north and west is so important in 2009. You must also avoid at all costs burning candles, lighting fires, fire colours like red in the west and north during 2009. Place two salt cues and six Chinese coins in a row and above all make sure you test, replace or fit smoke alarms in the whole home. Feng Shui is not always just about placing cures and enhancers having good Feng Shui is actually is being preventative so PLEASE if you only do one thing in 2009 just check/fit/renew your SMOKE ALARMS. Generally 2009 brings in fire disasters as we predicted back in November 2008 so please take care and with further thought maybe a good year to have your electrics checked, in fact Karen your email has prompted me to have my electrics tested, thank you. Warm regards Michael

Q) I have placed your annual cures kit for the third year running with fantastic results, thank you. I am really concerned with money this year as you can imagine with current financial strains, can you please tell me how we can enhance the wealth areas any more?

A) The two main wealth areas in 2009 are located in the southeast and northwest. Keep these two areas clear and tidy especially outside, make sure drains area clear and this time of year in the UK drains areas can be blocked with dead leaves that create much stagnant energy (sha chi). The flow of qi energy always comes from outside and the qi (air) touches the environment outside first then inside and if the first thing it touches is dead leaves, rubbish or similar this is the quality of energy that will enter the home which is not good. Many people assume having good Feng Shui is just about placing cures and enhancers, it really isn’t just this. You need to make sure the energy flows in all parts of your home inside and out, take a good hard critical look at your home, is the southeast or NW cluttered? If it is your finances can be cluttered in 2009 and become stagnant. If you have a bathroom, toilet or other type of wet room make sure it is spotless, it really makes a big difference. You should also place some faceted crystals spheres hanging in a window; this will activate the yang energy that is need in these two areas.

Q) Dear Michael, Firstly, I want to thank you so much for your detailed flying star 2009 analysis and animal predictions. You have been very kind in giving advices. I would also like to wish you and your family a safe and healthy year ahead. I also think FAQ 2009 is a wonderful addition to your already great website. I have some questions to contribute; 1. Master cure and Sheng chi cure – Must they be exposed or can I place within a display item? For example, I have a pair of ‘double happiness’ jars at the south facing my main door, can I place the Sheng Chi cure inside the jar? 2. Salt Water cures – The north sector spans across my master bedroom and my second bedroom. I understand that this cure must not be inside cabinet or in enclosed area. However, I would like to find out my option(s) if I cannot find an open area at the affected sector. My kitchen is in the west; so I can place this cure on top corner of my cabinet (exposed). Thank you very much in advance for any kind advice. Best Regards, Peter from Asia Pacific

A) Hi Peter, thank you for your nice words and good wishes. With question 1 you should ideally have these exposed to the air (qi) and not placed in a jar or cupboard etc, if this cannot be done placing them in a cupboard as near to the ground as possible as these are both earth cures. Question 2: If your kitchen is in the north then placing the salt cure on top of the cupboard is fine. Kind regards Michael

Q) I have been told not to have water in a bedroom; does this apply to a salt water cure as they contain water?

A) A very popular question and one that does not apply, a salt water cure is absolutely fine in a bedroom and any other room in the home, if you think about it, it is no different to having a glass of water beside your bed each night. This is called a “yin” water cure. The type of water you do not place in a bedroom is a “yang” water cure like an aquarium of water feature with a pump, the water movement makes it yang and this is harmful in a bedroom. So a salt water is needed in a bedroom for the annual stars and also fixed stars as these cause even more problems to health and luck.

Q) Should I hang the six rod wind chime from your cures kit inside or outside?

A) It is better if you hang them outside if possible as they will be activated by the air/wind (qi) and the movement and sound is an important part of the cure, if they are inside they are unlikely to be activated with air/wind so if you do place them inside place them in an area that may be knocked maybe by the top of a door or where you can clang them as you walk by now and again. Do not worry if you cannot that as just their presence is very powerful too.

Q) I thought I would write to share an experience I have had with your company. I have practised Feng Shui for nine years and whilst it is not my profession and neither do I charge for what I do but I have helped many people and taken compass readings. I bought my Chinese Lo pan compass from a well known feng shui website years ago and thought it served me well. I then helped a friend of a friend do their home and the compass reading conflicted with their compass so I checked against my home and it was ok although I still thought I would double check. I researched well and eventually bought your normal camping style compass because of all the articles you have done and you obviously known your stuff and came highly recommended. Well my Chinese Lo pan was 13 degrees out against yours. I then triple checked and your compass matched the friend of friend etc etc and all these years I have been taking the wrong readings. What a fool I feel but so glad I found your website and bought your compass. Thanks and please feel free to publish this email but please leave my full name off as I could not bear the shame. David

A) You are not alone, you would not believe how many times I have consulted on a building and compared my readings with the client, they can be up to 45 degrees out and also my students and other Feng Shui Practitioners that I have taught, they also arrive with compasses you obtain in a lucky bag or a lovely looking Chinese lou pan. I never use a Chinese Lou Pan to take my readings; they can be very inaccurate and also balanced for Asia and if you use them outside Asia you will get drag as Asia is a on a different magnetic Zone to the rest of the world, I use six different compasses for different parts of the world I visit. A Lou pan is designed so you have to place them against a wall to take measurements and many walls will have much metal in them giving you a false reading. Every single compass we sell is hand calibrated to my own £5000 (five thousand pounds) compasses to ensure 100% accuracy; we actually throw away 15% of our compasses as they can be inaccurate by up to 45 degrees. This makes our compasses the best you will find anywhere in the world in this price range and even well beyond. You truly will not find better and they come with an excellent booklet on taking compass readings and also finding your facing direction. Compass readings in Feng Shui are the most important part and I work within ½ degree accuracy. Have a look on this link for more details on our calibrated compasses which you will find towards the bottom of the page.

Q) I missed the 4th February start to the New Year (solar year), is it to late to place my 2009 cures and enhancers?

A) You can place your 2009 annual cures at any time of the year up until February 2010. The Chinese Feng Shui (solar calendar) year starts 4th February 2009 and you should place your cures and enhancers any day on or after this day, but over the years we have had thousands of clients placing the cures up until 11 months after this date and still getting amazing results in such a short period of time.

So don’t worry if it is March 2009, August or even January 2010, the annual cures can be placed at any time of the year and you will be amazed at what difference it can make to health, wealth and relationships.

Q) I really do not want my partner or visitors to my home or business to see the salt water cure, what can you recommend?

A) I have many clients who require cures to be discreet and as I always say you do not need to have your home or business looking like a Chinese restaurant to have good Feng Shui. I would suggest placing the salt water cure on a cupboard/shelf and then placing a photo frame or similar in front of it to hide it, as long as the top of the jar/glass is exposed to the air that is fine. Make sure that you regularly check the salt water cure as it may need to be topped up with water, especially in the summer months.

Q) Greetings, Michael, et al. Happy New Year! 🙂 I love your site. I come to it every year to learn as much as I can. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to purchase any items this year and will be reusing what I can from previous years. I have cleansed and charged them as per your instructions and will be placing as many of your recommended cures and enhancers for 2009 as I can this weekend. I am confused, however, about the proper Pi Yao placement and have two questions. Would you please clarify these for me? The first is about which is the proper sector to place the Pi Yao to appease Tai Sui (The Grand Duke Jupiter). In one place on your site, in the store item description for Pi Yao, it says “In 2009 place him in the southwest facing northeast.”; in another place, in the “2009 Flying Stars Analysis” article, third paragraph in the “How far do we take the advice we give?” section, it says “The traditional Chinese method is to place a Pi Yao … in the northeast sector … facing southwest to appease Tai Sui.” Please, which is the correct placement for the Pi Yao? The second question is about the correct color of the Pi Yao for 2009. I have not seen where it says which color of Pi Yao is most auspicious for this year, though you show a red one in your store. I have both red and metal Pi Yaos. Which color would be the best to use this year, red? Thank you for your kind help. Have a happy, healthy and prosperous year. 🙂 Sincerely, Angie

A) Dear Angie, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention and sorry if it caused any confusion. You must place your red Pi Yao in the southwest facing towards the northeast. Your metal Pi Yao would be very good in the northwest in 2009 and try and face him towards your personal sheng chi direction, use your software to find this direction for you. You can also place a red Pi Yao in the southeast in 2009 and again facing your personal sheng chi direction. Thanks Angie and have a great year. Michael

Q) Hi, I helped my wife place your 2009 cures and enhancers kit on February 4th and have to say I was somewhat sceptical although two weeks later I can really feel the difference they have made, not directly to me but to my wife and children and if they are happy I am, maybe a placebo effect but who cares. So just a quick note to say thanks from someone who is slightly less cynical and I have even moved my desk at work to face a better direction. I have used your Feng Shui software to get my good directions, I want to improve my health so should I face sheng chi as this is listed as the first best? Robert (USA)

A) Hi Robert, thanks for letting us know, do you know the biggest sceptics we ever get (90% males) nearly always become our biggest fans; the “proof of the pudding is in the eating” as they say. With regards to which direction you should face, I would try and face either “Tien Yi or “Yan Nian” to improve health and try and position your bed so you sleep with the crown of your head facing one of these directions. Sheng Chi is normally used for work/business as it synonymous with prosperity. Follow the software in more details there is so much information in there on how to improve health, wealth relationship and every other part of your life. Have a lovely year. Kind regards, Jo. PS I just did a quick search as to how the saying “proof of pudding” came about. Follow this link if you are also interested. http://ask.yahoo.com/20020903.html

“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”

Q) Dear feng shui stores: I have just received my deluxe and 2009 cures kits, which were beautifully packed and absolutely gorgeous quality. Such attention to detail. It was a real pleasure to handle the cures which I have bought for the very first time; they look and feel beautiful. I can’t wait to use them. Thank you all very much and may all your kindness and blessings rebound on you. A very wonderful, blessed peaceful, healthy and wealthy 2009 to all of you associated with the store and website. Isabella xxx

A) Dear Isabella, thank you so much for kind words and also taking the time to let us know, we really do appreciate it so much. Thank you. Warm regards. Jo

Q) Master Cure for the northeast, which way should the coins be facing?

A) The two coins used for the master cure in 2009 are not the normal type; they are called Dragon coins and need to be placed with the Dragon facing upwards. If you decide to use normal i-ching coins make sure they are placed yang side up which is the four Chinese characters facing upwards, this is very important but better if you can use Dragon coins though?

Q) Hi Master Michael, I was introduced to you last year from a client of yours that you recently visited in Singapore, I wish I knew you were here as I would love a consultation with you although I would find it hard to raise the money. In the meantime can I please ask, I have my main door in the northeast of my apartment and I am so worried that it will cause us problems in 2009, we are a young family with a two year old daughter with not too much money and cannot afford any problems, please advise me if you get a chance as my worry keeps me awake at night. Sallie (Singapore)

A) Hi Sallie. Please do not worry about the NE, the power of your mind is just as powerful as Feng Shui and you can create all sorts of problems with negative thoughts. My door is also in the NE and whilst I have the luxury of using another door in 2009 if I had to use it I would not worry at all. Try not to let your daughter play near the NE door area and make sure you introduce some reds in the hallway. Oil the door hinges and avoid the door banging closed. Because you live in an apartment you have less chance of any building work outside in the NE as breaking into the ground causes more problems. I have practised Feng Shui for almost thirty years and I have seen this combination at my main door many times and it never once caused me a problem until around eleven years ago when we had to break the ground eight feet down outside and this caused us so many problems but this was exceptional. So your risk is very small Sallie and do not give it any more thought. You WILL have a wonderful year. Warm wishes. Michael

Q) Hi Michael & Jo, Wish you and your family a very happy new year!! I have a small query for you. Can I reuse the crystal stones from the master cures in 2008 after cleansing them? Thanks & Regards, Poonam

A) Hi Poonam, yes you should cleanse them and place them in the southeast or southwest of your home.

Q) Dear Master Michael, I have a friend who uses your software and I used it at the weekend and found some of the advice in the software conflicted with the advice you have on your annual 2009 web page. Why is this? PS – I can see why it is so popular, it is an amazing piece of software, you must be so proud.

A) Hi, The software concentrates on the fixed mountain and water stars which govern wealth, relationships, career and health etc and far more influential than the annual stars. The annual stars are a small influence although can have a major influence when combined with the fixed stars. This is the beauty of the software, it saves you having to spend years learning Feng Shui and more importantly understating Feng Shui as this s where the biggest mistakes are made. The chart below gives you a better idea.

“If you are patient in one moment of anger,
you can avoid one hundred days of sorrow”

Sample of a Flying Star chart (natal chart)

Generated with our Professional Feng Shui software. This chart below does not just focus on annual and monthly stars but your fixed stars that are hundreds of times more powerful.

Q) BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC, WELL DONE YOU TWO & THANK YOU for all your hard work in producing 2009 predictions. I know your both very busy people but is there any chance in the future of bring back the Q&A page as i know it helped a lot of people, I am worried about my bedroom which is N & NW my walls are cream but my curtains & bedspread are cream with PURPLE & LILAC embroidered flowers. Fire colours which you say to avoid. I will be placing the 2009 cures, but I have some small pictures of unicorns with gold horns & hooves and black frames can these be placed here. A BIG THANK YOU, Sheila

A) Hi Shelia, thanks for your post on my blog, it prompted me to do this FAQ page again, thanks. The cream colours in the north and northwest are good but if you can change the bed spread for a dark blue, grey or charcoal. If you do not want to change the bed cover place some heavy metal objects close to your bed. I would also avoid using the unicorns and gold horn images as they are quite sharp and fire shaped.

Q) Hi Michael, Thank you for your continued great work! I have been following your advice for a number of years now. I bought your 2009 annual cures and they arrived today. They are great. One thing I like to ask you is that my kitchen is in the West and accordingly there should be NO fire in that sector this year and I definitely cannot avoid. What should I do? Appreciate your advice. Thank you. Lucy

A) Hi Lucy, I would place some real quartz crystal close to your cooker, this will help dissipate some of the earth energy in the west. It is also good to have good quality metal close to the cooker, the traditional way is using a brass wu lou although any heavy brass round object will do. Kind regards. Michael

Q) Dear Michael, Thank you so much for the 2009 update which I am still digesting and will be ordering my annual kit soon as usual. Two things: I have a problem with my office – when I take a compass reading inside the office I get a facing direction SW1 and when I take it outside the office I get a S3 facing!! Inside there is a lot of metal furniture which could I suppose throw the compass – which reading should I take? Secondly, I never, never receive your Newsletter even though I have asked for it, why is this? I wish you and your family health, wealth and happiness for the New Year. Kind regards Sarah

A) Hi Sarah, Lovely to hear from you and a very happy New Year to you too. I never take internal compass readings as the amount of metal in buildings can be very high and this will affect the reading. Take more compass reading outside again and then ask someone else to do the readings without telling them what reading you had, this will give you more assurance. I use over £5.000 worth of compasses so you are right to be diligent. Look after yourself Sarah. Kind regards. Michael. PS Sorry we have not done a newsletter for some time but we are hoping to resurrect it very soon.

Q) Dear Daniel, thank you for answering all my questions, it was very kind of you. Can I please ask one more: With the master cure and Sheng chi cure, should I keep them in the red brocade bag they came in?

A) You should take them out of the bag although they can be placed on top of the bag if you prefer as they are so nice.

Q) Dear Master Michael, thank you so much for taking the time every year to inform us. I have a two story home in Singapore, do I have place the cures and enhancers on both levels?

A) There are quite a few websites saying you should place the cures on both levels, in my opinion this is not necessary and a devious way of selling you twice the amount of products. I would only place the cures on the level that gets the most activity which is normally the ground floor.

Q) Dear Michael, my main door is in the northeast and I am worried it will cause me problems in the year, I also have my main bedroom above the door, please help me. Reena

A) Hi Reena, please do not concern yourself, my main home door is also in the NE and I am not worried one bit. This is what I will be doing in 2009. I will be placing the master cure which is eight pieces of Jasper Hematite and two Dragon coins and a ru yi. I will NOT be doing any renovations to the NE at all in 2009. I have oiled the hinges and locks and will try and make sure it is not banged closed although you will not be able to control this completely and nor would I want to sit at the NE of my home guarding it either. Avoid using water colours in the hall and bedroom like blue, black, grey etc. Try and introduce some fire colours like red, pink, burgundy etc into the NE, a quick and easy way of doing this is by using a doormat, rug, bed cover etc. I am fortunate to be able to use a rear south door in 2009 and we will be doing this as much as possible although we will not request anyone else outside our family use it like the postman or friends, they all think we are mad anyway and do not want to fuel this anymore. Do not worry about the NE in 2009, all will be well.

Q) Why haven’t you sent your newsletter out for a while?

A) Sorry, we have not had time and we need to find a new way to deliver the emails. We used to use Microsoft Outlook but with 80.000 subscribers it could not cope and we had many rejections. If anyone can advise us on a better way of delivering emails please let us know. It used to be so easy and now spoilt with Spam and such like.

Q) Dear Michael, I have two friends who have had consultations with you and whilst I would dearly love for you to consult me sadly I cannot afford it. Can you please tell me if your on-line consultations or software come anywhere near to have a consultation from someone as good as you? Claire

A) Hi Claire, the on-line consultations are extremely good and very in-depth but I really do feel our Feng Shui software offers the best value and also best results for a much smaller price. Over the last five years it has become the Feng Shui industry worldwide standard and used by thousands all over the world with amazing results. So good in fact that we have heard of many people starting their own Feng Shui consultancy business on the back of the software which is not good but a true refection of its power and of course with the software you can use it on as many homes and individuals as you like.

“You can’t have a better tomorrow
if you are thinking about yesterday all the time”

Q) If I buy your 2009 annual cures and enhancer’s kit, is this sufficient protection for the year?

A) Apart from having a full professional Feng Shui consultation or using our Feng Shui software, the annual kit will offer the best protection you can get. Like everything in life it depends on how far you want to take it, Feng Shui is extremely powerful and if you spend many years learning you will find there are many other cures and enhancers you can place although the annual kit offers protection and enhancers and saves you many years learning how to apply them.

Q) How long will it take to receive my order?

A) Between December and February it is our busiest time throughout the year and orders in this period do take longer. Any other time orders are normally sent within 3 working days and many times the next day although please be a bit more patient in January and February as they can take 5-9 days to send so please do not leave it till the last minute to order.

Q) I have read in popular Feng Shui books that you should not place water above you as it causes problems with health and luck, please help me as I have a water feature built into the wall upstairs and I would hate to have to relocate it.

A) Another misinterpretation of the old books in particular the I-Ching; it does quote that you should not have water above you as it causes menace. Although the I-Ching is very accurate you cannot take one sentence and assume you should never have water above you, if this were the case we would all be living in permanent threat, nearly every home I know has a water tank in the loft or bathroom upstairs this is exactly the same as having a water feature upstairs. You can have water upstairs as long as the area supports the element water, so this year water in the southeast is fine up or down stairs, although I would not have moving (yang) water in a bedroom that is being regularly used.

I hope you have enjoyed these questions and answers. You will find many others on the website and also by clicking on the Blog banner at the top right side of this page.
